The Jets will be without two more defensive players who have departed via free agency.
Inside linebacker Demario Davis and defensive back Antonio Allen signed with the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans respectively after the Jets showed mild interest in bringing the pair back.
Davis’ departure comes as less of a surprise as he was sure to command a higher salary than Allen, and found himself being pulled in passing situations late in the season in favor of linebacker Erin Henderson.
Allen missed all of 2015 with a torn achilles but was viewed by many as a good fit for Todd Bowles’ defense given his experience at linebacker, safety and cornerback though his college and pro career.
While they have lost some of their own players in free agency, the Jets have stayed active, bringing in defensive linemen Jarvis Jenkins and Steve McLendon.
