As we discussed with New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall in an exclusive interview with JetNation, the star wideout who has fought his share of uphill battles throughout the course of his career, may be facing his biggest challenge yet.
Now a key part of one of the NFL combine’s biggest events, Marshall will assist immensely popular sports personality, Rich Eisen, as he takes his annual shot at running of the 40 yard dash in Indianapolis, this time attempting to come in under 6.1 seconds. Eisen’s personal best was the 5.98 he ran three years ago.
This time around is a little bit different though. Never before has Eisen sought out the help or expertise from a current NFL star until now. He and Marshall will team with DIRECT TV and AT&T (which carries Eisens’ show on Audience network) to raise money for childhood cancer research, teaming with world-famous St. Judes.
It’s a creative way to take something that has traditionally been for fun, and turn it in to something meaningful. How much Marshall’s mentorship will help remains to be seen.
While there’s a good chance Eisen’s 40 time will be the slowest at the combine, he has paired with Marshall to make it the most important.
