After three impressive weeks, Bilal Powell will miss the week 17 match up with his former head coach. Over the last three games Powell has amassed 117 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown, and 134 yards receiving, with a receiving touchdown. Powell’s versatility as a rushing and receiving threat will be missed. Stevan Ridley will take Powell’s place as Chris Ivory’s relief. Ridley had the most snaps last week’s that he’s had all season with 14. Powell had actually overtaken Ivory in the snap count by a large margin. Powell had 44 snaps compared to Ivory’s 25.
Other inactives include: Dee Milliner, Taiwan Jones, Josh Martin, Dion Bailey, Bryce Petty, and Dakota Dozier
Dee Milliner and Dion Bailey will finish out the season on the inactives list. Milliner is recovering from an injury, but would likely be inactive despite the injury. Milliner has one tackle assist on the season, and has seen very limited action this season. Both have been buried on the depth chart this season, although Bailey played well when he was forced into action earlier this season.
Both mid season signings Taiwan Jones and Josh Martin have been inactive since they were signed.
Ben Ijalana will be active likely as insurance if Breno Giacomini can’t finish the game. Dakota Dozier will be inactive again this week. It surprising that they chose to activate Ijalana, they must not be too confident in Giacomini’s health.
Bryce Petty will finish the season on the inactives list. Petty will have the chance to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick next season.
This is the biggest game for the Jets in a long time. It’s a win-and-in scenario. If the Jets can triumph against their former head coach they will punch their ticket to the playoffs. With a sixth win in a row, the Jets will be a real threat in the playoff race.
