Just days after signing rookie free agent wide receiver Jarrod West, the Jets sent him packing and brought in another longshot receiver in Arthur Williams, also an undrafted rookie.
Swapping out one receiver for another still leaves New York with fourteen pass catchers in camp with just a few spots open, depending on how many Todd Bowles and Mike Maccagnan choose to go with when the season kicks off.
Eric Allen of NewYorkJets.com is reporting that Williams was a tryout player for the Jets during the off-season after playing his college ball at Maine:
Williams, who played collegiately at Maine, was a tryout player at the Jets rookie minicamp. The 6’0”, 185-pound Williams had 101 career receptions with the Black Bears for 1,437 yards and 12 TDs. West, also an undrafted rookie who had a tryout during rookie minicamp, was signed to the roster on Sunday.
