Fantasy Football: Play Bench
Last week was a pretty good week, I went 7-3 in the Play them and 4-3 in the Bench them. Each week I review players who are ranked outside the top 10 for QB’s and TE’s and top 20 for WR’s in the weekly ESPN rankings. This will show you who I think will flourish and who will disappoint this upcoming week. I do not review those ranked higher since they are probably highly drafted and unable to be benched. You could also use some of these player rankings to help your chances with an NFL Parlay. Let’s get to this week:
Play Them
Eli Manning (13) – Much was lost in the Manning explosion but the Denver pass defense was shaky at best, Eli and company at home should have a great day especially with the RB situation.
Carson Palmer (18) – He looked solid against the Rams and gets a shaky Lions pass defense.
DeAngelo Williams (25) – He had over 100 yards and 20 touches and gets a Bills defense that was getting torched on the ground until all the fumbles.
Ronnie Hillman (48) – Fox came out and called Hillman their most explosive talent at RB, with his match up, he should get you 10 points.
Julian Edelman (20)– He will be Brady’s #1 target and should have a quality WR2 type of game, start him without worrying.
Cecil Shorts (24) – He had a quiet game but did get 11 targets and now Henne is at QB who he shined with last year.
Dwayne Bowe (25) – The Giants receivers were running free and this week Bowe is licking his chops,
Mike Williams (26) – The Saints leaky pass defense should be a joy for the Bucs receivers this week.
Golden Tate (41)– The 49ers defense always starting against the run but somewhat shaky last week in the secondary.
Brandon Myers (11) – The Ravens tight ends ran free last week and Myers had a nice game so I would expect a top 8 day.
Bench Them
Tony Romo (12) – He is banged up, on the road and facing a tough secondary, I expect a few turnovers.
Frank Gore (20)– There are a very few amount of RB’s, I would play at Seattle and Gore is not one of them.
Lamar Miller (22)– I did not like what I saw out of him as well as Thomas getting the goal line touches.
BenJarvus Green Ellis (28) – He looked slow, was successful on only 1/3 goal line touches and now gets a great Pittsburgh run defense.
Antonio Brown (23) – He had a solid 1st game but in non PPR league does not get enough yards nor TD’s to warrant a start against a tough pass defense at home.
Torrey Smith (29) – Joe Haden shut down Wallace last week and gets a similar receiver this week and I am expecting the same.
Roddy White (32) – He was a decoy last week with his high ankle sprain and an injury that continues to linger.
Greg Jennings (36) – His QB makes him unplayable especially on the road in Chicago.
Kyle Rudolph (14)– He has the same issue as Jennings, there are better options out there for this week.
