Jets Release QB Brady Quinn
The New York Jets have made an expected roster move today releasing quarterback Brady Quinn and signing linebacker Danny Lansanah off the practice squad. Rookie Geno Smith will be the starting quarterback with Matt Simms backing him up in this Sunday’s upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The release of Quinn comes as no surprise as he receives week-one pay and will likely be resigned early next week. Having Quinn, a vested veteran, on the team to start week one would have allowed his season salary to become guaranteed. Now the team can release Quinn, after he resigns, once Mark Sanchez is healthy enough to play and only pay him for the weeks he was on the roster.
