After much anticipation the New York Jets have named a starting Quarterback that will play versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.
Quarterback Geno Smith has had some up and downs this Preseason but the coaches are now expecting the young signal caller to step in and show off some of the skills sets he was drafted for. Meanwhile Quarterback Mark Sanchez is currently rehabbing a bruised joint in his throwing shoulder.
In today’s presser with Head Coach Rex Ryan he said the following: “We’re very comfortable with Geno, as an organization we’re confident Geno will help us get the job done.”
Even though Mark Sanchez declined to speak with reporters today, Geno smith took the opportunity to say “Ive got to earn it, nothing is given to you in this league.”
Geno Smith played a total of 69 snaps in the preseason and today said “I’m ready” he continued to say about the coaches “I don’t think I’ve been rushed. They wouldn’t put me out there if they didn’t think I was ready”
Smith seems to be anticipating the Buccaneers to bring in different looks on defense and had this to say “I expect those guys to come out fired up. They want to make a statement. They want to hit me and get me out of my game”
Jets fans will be watching this Sunday’s game keeping a close eye on Geno Smith’s progression. We will keep you updated on any related news as it becomes available.
