After Cutting their Roster to 53 players yesterday the NY Jets kept their ears open to the waiver wire. Today they jumped on the opportunity to sign Running Back Alex Green.
Green was drafted in the third round by the Green Bay Packers in the 2011 draft (96th overall). The 6’0″ 225 lbs Running Back suffered a season ending knee injury while with the Packers in his rookie year but has fully healed since then. Green will likely be used to add Depth at the running back position behind Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell.
Additionally the Jets claimed Defensive End Scott Solomon off waivers from the Tennessee Titans.
Solomon is listed as 6’2″ 262 lbs and was drafted in the 7th round by the Titans in the 2012 draft (211th overall). The former Rice graduate played 13 games for the Titans last year and made only four tackles. Coach Rex Ryan may be able to use Solomon in certain packages in the 3-4 defense as an outside Line Backer.
