Jets Hosting Several Prospects
Need caught up on who the Jets have or will bring in for visits? JetNation has the info…
The Jets hosted Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro yesterday. Vaccaro is considered the hands down best safety in this draft and totaled 92 tackles and two interceptions last season. Vaccaro is extremely athletic and versatile who can be used as an extra defender in the box or in man coverage as a nickel corner, something Texas asked him to do a lot last season.
Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner is in New York for a workout today. Milliner’s stock has not seemed to dip despite having surgery to repair a torn labrum a little over a month ago. Milliner is a good size for the position and compares well to a guy like Charles Tillman. In his junior season at Alabama, Milliner had two interceptions and an outstanding 21 passes defended. Philadelphia at four and Cleveland at six are in desperate need of a corner and I would be surprised if he was still available at nine for the Jets. Milliner has also made it clear he aspires to play for the Browns (seriously).
Finally, the Jets will host West Virginia wide receiver Tavon Austin on Monday. Austin’s stock has rose throughout the off-season and I’ve seen more than one scout call Austin the quickest player they’ve ever seen on film. Austin has had over 100 receptions the past two seasons (including 114 last season) and amassed 1,932 yards of total offense and 15 touchdowns. Austin is also considered the best kick and punt returner in the draft. With a team aching for playmakers on offense, Austin would be a welcome addition to the team.
So what are your thoughts, Jets fans? I’m glad to see I’m not the only one looking ahead to a situation like this…
If/When Jets trade Darrelle Revis to the Bucs, #NYJ could wind up with Dee Milliner & Tavon Austin with their two first round picks. #nyj
