Jeff Cumberland Signs RFA Tender

The Jets had extended a tender offer to tight end Jeff Cumberland

right before free agency began.  Since the Jets tendered Cumberland at the lowest level (right-of-first-refusal) they had the rights to match any offer and retain him.  PFT is reporting that Jeff Cumberland has signed his tender offer with the Jets.

Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland has signed his one-year tender offer from the club. The move was disclosed in the NFL’s Monday transaction report.

With Dustin Keller departing in free agency, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound Cumberland could have a bigger role in the Jets’ passing game this season. The fourth-year pro finished second among Jets players in catches (29), receiving yards (359) and targets (53) in 2012, and his three TD catches tied for the team lead.
