Folk Wins Kicking Competition as Brown Is Cut
The Jets have made a decision on who will be kicking the ball for the green and white this season. Incumbent Nick Folk has apparently won the training camp competition over veteran Josh Brown as he was released by the team today:
Confirmed that Josh Brown was cut. He missed a 45-yard FG last night. Competition was very close. #nyj

Folk went 19-of-25 in field goal attempts last season, a 76% average, which placed him 26th out of 31 kickers. The Jets brought in Brown to challenge Folk but he responded with a good camp and preseason. The competition was often too close to call but Folk went 3/3 in field goal attempts during the preseason match up with the Carolina Panthers while Brown was 1/2 missing a 45 yarder. Brown made a field goal against the Giants that hit in off the upright, so it seemed like Folk was already slightly ahead before last night’s game.
