According to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger the Jets have “reached out” to Olympic silver medalist sprinter Jeff Demps (4 X 100 relay).
Demps played running back for the University of Florida recording 569 yards rushing with 5.8 yards-per-carry along with 25 yards-per-return on kickoffs in 2011. Going undrafted, as he chose to pursue the Olympics rather than football, now with the Olympics over NFL teams are starting to show interest in Demps.
The Jets are among the teams who have reached out to (Jeff) Demps.
Demps was a college teammate of Jets back-up quarterback Tim Tebow in 2008 and 2009, winning a national championship together. He rushed for 2,470 yards and 23 touchdowns in his college career and also returned kickoffs. With Olympic athlete speed, he is an intriguing prospect on both offense and special teams.
