The Jets have added some depth to their depleted wide receiving and defensive back core. With a recent rash of “soft tissue” injuries the team worked out some free agents during this morning’s training camp practice at Cortland.
They have signed wide receivers Wes Kemp (6’3”, 223 LB) out of Missouri and Chris Forcier (6’3”, 214 LB) from Furman.
Kemp had 29 receptions for 369 yards last year for the Tigers. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on April 30 but released on June 11.
Forcier played quarterback at Furman but is trying to make the transition to receiver. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars, as a quarterback, undrafted on May 7 and released June 20. He didn’t catch one pass during his collegiate career.
The Jets also picked up safety Marcus Lott (6’1”, 195) from Carolina Coastal:
Former Coastal Carolina safety Marcus Lott is getting his shot at the National Football League. The New York Jets have signed the Union, SC native and has already joined the team in at training camp in Cortland, NY.
Lott had 184 tackles and 5 interceptions in his Coastal Carolina football career. He spent time in mini-camps with the New York Giants and Washington Redskins following the NFL Draft.
