Jets Waive LB Berning Add WR Webber
The Jets have made a few transactions today:
They have waived linebacker Matthias Berning who was given a reserve/futures contract on January 12, 2012. Originally signed as an undrafted rookie out of Central Michigan with the Jets on July 28, 2011 Berning was cut the final day of training camp. Later he was added to the practice squad (9/4/11) only to be released nine days later. A knee injury had limited Bering during voluntary workouts and mini-camp.
The Jets announced the signing of wide receiver Raymond Webber (6’3”, 220) out of Arkansas Pine-Bluff. Webber was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on July 27, 2011 as an undrafted rookie but ended up being placed on injured/reserve August 15 with a hamstring injury. He was picked up by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this year only to be released. Seen as a project Webber will have a difficult time making the 53 man roster. Becoming a member of the practice squad is more likely.
