Jets Sign Blocking Tight End Tarren Lloyd
The Jets announced that they have signed Tarren Lloyd, an UDFA out of Utah State. Lloyd is listed at 6’7″ and 258lbs and is well known for his ability to block rather than catch passes. As a tight end for a formidable offensive and a blocker for one of the NCAA’s best small school running backs in Robert Turbin, Lloyd made a name for himself creating movement in the running game and understanding how to position himself to get the best leverage.
He is a little slender and will need to get stronger. He can be an average pass catcher, as well. Lloyd will compete with Brian Linthicum, and Hayden Smith in camp. With the move, the Jets are now at 91 players when the maximum at this time is 90. Look for them to cut someone in the next few days to make room for Lloyd.
Whether he makes the team or not it’s just another competition for training camp, something the Jets desperately need after guys got too comfortable with their roles last year. May the countdown begin towards camp…”Can’t Wait!”
