Jets Scott Hosts Event For Rutgers LeGrand
On Monday night New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott hosted his first “Can’t Wait” Grand Prix charity race and fundraiser at Pole Position Raceway in Jersey City, NJ. The event, which was attended by hundreds of fans, included food and drinks, kart racing against the players, as well as a silent auction of several autographed footballs and jerseys.
Former Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand was the guest of honor and all of the proceeds went to the “A Son Never Forgets Foundation” which is dedicated to educating and encouraging those suffering from spinal cord injuries by providing valuable information and resources during rehabilitation.
I have been to several charity events over the years but this one tops the charts in terms of player turnout and their interaction with the fans. Bart Scott along with his teammates all took the time to take photos with the fans, sign autographs, and answer questions. The atmosphere was very relaxed and all of the players truly embraced the evening and the significance of the cause.
Some of the players that were in attendance:
Mark Sanchez, Antonio Cromartie, Sione Pouha, Eric Smith, Aaron Maybin, Plaxico Burress, Brandon Moore, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, David Harris, Marcus Dixon, Kyle Wilson, Shonn Greene, Joe McKnight, Donald Strickland, Dustin Keller
About “A Son Never Forgets Foundation”: Scott founded the “A Son Never Forgets Foundation” in 2006 after going through the experience of assisting in the rehabilitation process of his cousin, who was an innocent bystander in a shooting that left him paralyzed. Since then, Scott has donated his time and resources to Rehabilitation Centers across the country. The Can’t Wait Campaign is an extension and new chapter for the foundation. “A Son Never Forgets Foundation” is currently seeking and greatly appreciates any product or monetary donations
