Jets Sign DL Martin Tevaseu to the Active Roster; Make Practice Squad Moves

The Jets announced the following roster moves yesterday:

October 12, 2011 – The New York Jets have signed DL Martin Tevaseu from the practice squad to the active roster and added WR Michael Campbell and DB Tracy Wilson to the practice squad. The announcements were made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Tevaseu (DT/6-2/325/Nevada-Las Vegas/Oakland, CA) joins the active roster after spending the first five weeks of the season on the practice squad. He initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns last season, before he joined the Jets as a free agent (7/20/10) and appeared in all four preseason games. After he was waived by the Jets (9/4/10), he signed to the practice squad (9/6/10) and spent all 16 regular season, and the first two postseason games there before being signed to the active roster (1/22/11) and earning his NFL debut at Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship Game (1/25/11).

Campbell (WR/6-2/205/Temple/Edison, NJ), released from the practice squad (10/5/11), rejoins the team after initially signing as an undrafted free agent (07/27/11) and spending preseason with the club. He played in 43 career games (19 starts) at Temple, totaling 1,253 yards and 83 receptions. As a senior, he led the team with 724 receiving yards on 45 receptions.

Wilson (S/6-2/203/Northern Illinois/Harvey, IL) originally signed with the Jets as a free agent (8/24/11) after he was not selected in the 2011 supplemental draft. He appeared in the team’s final two preseason games before being waived (9/3/11). In three seasons at Northern Illinois, he started 17-of-32 games and amassed 171 total tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, four fumble recoveries and one interception.
