NJ.com: Santonio Holmes Agrees To Deal With Jets

Jenny Vrentas is reporting on NJ.com that the New York Jets and Santonio Holmes have agreed to a new contract.  Under the post-lockout rules, the new deal can’t be officially signed and filed with the league until Friday.

After the Jets made an offer yesterday evening, Holmes has agreed to re-sign with the team, per a person informed of the move. That person requested anonymity because the move cannot be made official until Friday.

The deal is reportedly five years in length and includes around $24 million in guarantees.

This move gives the Jets the continuity they need heading into a season.  Since no teams had off season workouts or mini camps, continuity is going to be king.

The Jets have been very active, here is a recap of their moves yesterday.  Who is next up for the Jets?  Some analysts are speculating that it could be star CB Nnamdi Asomugha.

I started JetNation in 2005 and have been a New York Jets season ticket holder since graduating from high school. My dream is to see the New York Jets win the Super Bowl. Until then, I will be right here on JetNation writing, dreaming and talking NY Jets football.
