Roddy White Ranks Jets Darrelle Revis #1 CB
In a recent interview with the NFL Network Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Roddy White ranked New York Jet Darrelle Revis the best cornerback in the National Football League. White offered the following about Revis:
“Revis is the number one cover guy in the league right now. He’s strong at the point of attack … He always get his hands on you. He disrupts the timing of routes. That’s the biggest thing about the passing game, everything has to be on time — precision. And he does such a good job of (disrupting timing).”
The remainder of White’s top 5 list was: #2 Nnamdi Asomugha #3 Champ Bailey #4 Charles Woodson #5a Brent Grimes #5b Asante Samuel
This ranking should come as no surprise as many receivers in the NFL have offered the same thoughts about Darrelle Revis. The Jets All-Pro corner does an excellent job shutting down the opponent’s best weapon forcing the quarterback to explore 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th options while dealing with Rex Ryan’s aggressive defensive packages.
One of the keys for the Jets defense to have success in 2011 will be to find another quality cornerback to play alongside Revis. At this point my preference is to retain Antonio Cromartie, but I am quite sure the Jets will explore all free agent/trade options once the lockout is over.
Who do you want to play alongside Revis? Discuss in the JetNation forums.
