On Tuesday the New York Jets made qualifying tender offers (compensation required if signed by another team) to 9 of their restricted free agents. The list is as follows:
Antonio Cromartie: 1st and 3rd
Santonio Holmes: 1st and 3rd
Brad Smith: 2nd
Eric Smith: 3rd
Kellen Clemens: 3rd
Drew Coleman: 6th
Nick Folk: 6th
Right of First Refusal: James Ihedigbo and Robert Turner
(Note: The Jets were not able to tender Braylon Edwards as he has six years of service and is an unrestricted free agent.)
Before you begin analyzing these moves keep in mind that these tenders apply under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement which expires on Thursday. There is a very good chance that the terms of the new CBA will change the years of service requirement (it is 5 years currently) which will make players like Holmes and Cromartie unrestricted free agents.
