LaDainian Tomlinson interview transcript 12/27/10
On Monday New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson addressed the media. Here is the transcript courtesy of the Jets.
On winning the team award for Most Inspirational Player team…
“It’s a great honor to be the inspirational player voted on by your teammates. It’s a special award particularly because your teammates vote on it. I’m happy and honored to be in that position for them. There is a great history of guys that have won the award. For me to see the list, hung up on the wall at the complex and knowing that my name is going to go up on the wall and for years to come for guys after me to see that (my name is up there), it will be pretty special.”
On when he found out he won the award…
On what it’s like for the team to be stuck in Chicago…
“Pretty much just staying in the room, resting, watching movies, getting room service, and typical stuff you do when you have nothing to do.”
On if the team has meetings today…
“Yes we do. We have meetings just like a normal Monday for us. We would typically meet and go over the film and talk about next week or this (past) week.”
On going into the Buffalo game with confidence…
“It’s important to go into the playoffs confident. (When you’re) on the road, we talked about it all year long, you have to have momentum. Playing well going into the playoffs is about the team that’s playing hot at the time because it’s a tournament. No matter what you say or who you are, you could be the number one seed or you could be the sixth seed, everyone is nervous about going home because there is a potential of losing. There are no undefeated teams this year, so everyone has experienced losing. It’s important to have momentum and for us it’s very important.”
On Mark Sanchez’s performance…
“He’s approached (his performance) like a pro. Anytime when guys struggle, you can blame other people or you can say things aren’t going right, but Mark hasn’t. He’s put it on himself. He’s accepted coaching and how he’s playing now is a product of that. He’s been a pro about it and he’s going to continue to do that type of thing. He’s going to continue to get better and understand more of the game plan and what (Coach Schottenheimer) expects of him.”
