Jason Taylor interview transcript 10/28/10
On Thursday Jets defensive end Jason Taylor addressed the media. Here is the transcript courtesy of the Jets.
On what he has seen on film of Aaron Rodgers…
“He does get rid of the ball very quickly. I think the offensive line is pretty good. They do a good job of helping him if there is a breakdown. I think he’s obviously, I don’t know how you rank them, but the top three or five quarterbacks in this league. He’s a very good, talented quarterback.”
On the challenges the defense should face from his former coach, Dom Capers…
“Well, playing in a defense like this (the Jets defense), it’s pretty similar. You see a lot of different variations and a lot of things (like) different guys coming (rushing). The number one thing is having talented players. Obviously, Dom has those guys in Green Bay. Clay Matthew is playing lights out. He’s missed two games with an injury. Charles Woodson was Player of the Year last year defensively, so he has the horses (where) he can go out and do what he wants to do. I think it’s similar to what we do here, not execution-wise, but in the variations (of the defense).”
On coming back from the bye week...
“We’re not satisfied. We’re not even halfway through the season yet. We’re not satisfied, and we’re not surprised. I think people sometimes look at you to see if you’re surprised to be 5-1, and by no means, are we surprised. We understand we have a pretty good football team. We have a long way to go to get better, but we expect to be there, we expect to be in this situation, expect to win our games and have the kind of success that we’re having. If we can clean up a few things, we (will) look a lot (better).”
