New York Jets waive Kenwin Cummings
On Friday the New York Jets announced that they have waived linebacker Kenwin Cummings.
Cummings (LB/6-3/230/Wingate/Pembroke, NC) initially joined the club as an undrafted free agent in 2008 and was inactive for the season opener before being signed to the Jets practice squad. After spending the first nine weeks of the 2009 season on the Jets practice squad, he was then added to the 53-man roster on November 16, 2009, and made his NFL debut on special teams in the Jets Wild Card Playoff game at Cincinnati. He saw action on special teams in three games this season.
This move leaves the Jets relatively thin at the inside linebacker position, as Lance Laury is the sole backup for David Harris and Bart Scott.
