New York Jets Week 6 Report Card
Broncos @ Jets
Quarterbacks: D+
Sanchez: 17/30, 198, 1/2
You knew it was going to happen. Eventually Sanchez was going to throw a couple picks… and here it is. What’s impressive is the way Sanchez battled back and converted 2 3rd downs and 1 4th down on the game winning drive.
Running Backs: C-
Tomlinson: 16/55/2
Greene: 9/43
The backs struggled, especially in the first half. LT still racked up a couple big runs and two touchdowns.
Wide Recievers/Tight Ends: C+
Edwards: 4/46/1
Holmes: 4/47
Cotchery: 4/18
Keller: 3/75
The wide receivers did what they could today. They made the plays they had to. Edwards got past Bailey for a touchdown and Keller made great contributions as well.
Offensive Line: C
Sanchez had enough time to throw, but the line did a poor job of establishing the run against a team that the Jets should have run all over.
Defensive Line: D
A poor job all around. Tough time getting pressure on Orton, and an even weaker job of occupying blockers to allow the linebackers to make plays on the running backs. Denver doubled its average rushing yards total.
Linebackers: C-
It’s tough giving all these bad grades to a winning team, but the fact is the linebackers did not have a good game. How do you allow Kyle Orton to run for a first on two third and longs?
Secondary: C+
True, the secondary gave up some big plays. Credit Kyle Orton, he’s actually pretty good. On the flip side, they also recovered two fumbles (Revis and Lowery) and broke up a bunch of passes. Revis does not look like 2009 Revis, but he looks a lot better than he did last week. So, there’s that.
Special Teams: C
Nick Folk hit a 56 yard field goal. On the other hand, a surprise onside kick caught the ST sleeping. Other than that, the performance was ho hum on special teams.
Coaching: C-
I’m being lenient: it’s a tough task Ryan & co had this week. You’re on a short week, and you have to go play on the road against a team with a rather unique homefield advantage: thin air. Coaching did a poor job of timeout management and the Broncos sniffed out Schotty’s offensive gameplan from the very beginning.
