On Monday, September 20th, JetNation.com was invited to the Atlantic Health Training Center in Florham Park, NJ. Citi hosted a private evening event with the New York Jets. There were several ex-Jets in attendance (Wayne Chrebet, Wesley Walker, Bruce Harper and Bobby Jackson) and one current Jets (Kris Jenkins). 75 youth football players from Pequannock were invited and they enjoyed the evening immensely. They spent time on the practice field kicking field goals and talking to Jets in attendance.
Here is the press release about the event and the charitable donation that Citi made:
As part of the bank’s “Our Promise” to New Jersey initiative, Citibank invited clients and 75 children from the Boys & Girls Club of New Jersey to the Jets Training Center for some fun and football.
Attendees enjoyed tours of the Jets facility, participated in an on-the-field skills clinic and challenge with former football greats, followed by dinner on the facility’s terrace and televised Monday night football in the facility’s auditorium. Several former Jets greats and one current star player attended and participated in a Q&A with the children to answer all of their football related questions.
Brad Dinsmore, Head of Retail Banking, North America Consumer Banking, Citi presented a check for $50,000 as part of Citi’s sponsorship of the New Jersey Boys & Girls Club.
The highlight of the event was the question and answer session with the players. Most of the questions were directed at Wayne Chrebet and Kris Jenkins. Here is a recap:
Wayne Chrebet
Kris Jenkins
The best two questions were:
Are the Jets cheerleaders distracting? Are the Cowboys cheerleaders distracting? The players laughed and responded by asking the kids if the pop warner cheerleaders were distracting. The answer was a resounding YES.
Great job by Citi organizing this event and making the donation to the Boys and Girls Club of America. Here is the discussion thread from our New York Jets forum that has some additional photos from the event.
