Darrelle Revis Agrees To Contract Extension
The wait, along with the debate, is over. Darrelle Revis has agreed to a new contract and it is being reported that he will be on the field next Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens.
The new contract is for 7 years but it can be voided down to 4. There are various reports about the compensation but we don’t want to speculate. This thread has more information. Adam Schefter said:
Darrelle Revis’ new contract with the Jets is a four-year deal.
7-year deal that voids to 4. Ultimately will be 4.
Jay Glazer had a very interesting update, in what looks like a college recruiting trip, Rex Ryan and Woody Johnson flew to meet with Camp Revis.
The 11th-hour agreement came to fruition after Jets coach Rex Ryan and owner Woody Johnson reportedly flew to South Florida on Sunday to meet with the team’s top defensive player and the NFL’s best shutdown cornerback.
”That was an important step in the process, but there was still obviously more work to be done,” Tannenbaum said. ”We spent all day looking at it and probably about (11 p.m. Sunday), we made a very significant breakthrough to finding a landing spot that was good for both sides.”
Darrelle Revis did provide two short updates via twitter. The first one is to his agents.
To my family, neil, & john I love u guys I’m comin home baby!!! Revis Island LET’S GO.
it not has only been hard on u guys but it has for me too. I just want to tell yall that I’m sorry for this process and I can’t wait to get back on the field.
The feeling is mutual Darrelle. Jets fans can’t wait to see you back on the field. The business side of football can get rough and at the end of the day all fans care about is seeing the best possible Jets team lining up to take on the Ravens next week. Mission accomplished.
Welcome home.
