I was just catching up on my email and realized the New York Jets sent out an email yesterday. The subject was, “The Jets Want To Hear From You”. When I opened the email I saw it was a survey. It said it would require less than 5 minutes of time, so I thought no problem. I don’t mind helping the Jets out.
With the new stadium in its first season, I figured there would be a lot of questions about how you get to the stadium, tailgating preferences and stuff like that. They did have questions like that in the survey. They followed it up with;
Those questions all make perfect sense to me. The Jets have a logistical challenge on their hands and that information will make game day operations easier. Especially when it comes to staffing.
How much do you spend on Jets merchandise and how should we communicate with you they asked next. Both questions were standard, not surprising at all.
Then, the Jets got personal. I am not sure why the Jets need to know:
They slowed it back down by asking some Jets stuff again; favorite Jets memory, gameday tradition and a fun fact about myself. They care about me, they really really care about me.
The last few questions are the ones I had a problem with. Demographics.
Now I realize that none of this is earth shattering. But why do they want to know my wedding anniversary? Or where I like to vacation? Do they really need to know my kids birthday?
Of course they do, how else are they going to email me reminders to buy my son a Wayne Chrebet throwback three weeks before his birthday. How else would they be able to send me travel deals to Miami when the Jets play there a week before my wedding anniversary.
I give the Jets credit for trying. With their persistence working the phones on ticket sales I passed on providing accurate information. Of course they closed with
The answers to these and all other questions in this survey will never be transmitted to anyone outside of the Jets organization.
