The New York Jets have signed, ex Dallas Cowboys kicker, Nick Folk to a one year contract. This was reported by Adam Schefter via Twitter:
@Adam_Schefter: Filed to ESPN: With K Jay Feely scheduled to become a free agent, the N.Y. Jets signed former Cowboys K Nick Folk to a one-year contract.
Jay Feely had a much better season in 2009 but he is an unrestricted free agent. Since there is no salary cap for 2010, the Jets options are limited. As one of the “final 8” teams, the Jets can only sign a free agent if they lose a free agent. Is this a calculated move on the Jets part? They could be looking to improve in another area. Or they could simply be bringing Folk into camp to compete with Feely.
