Practice Squad Moves

The New York Jets have signed defensive lineman Ty Steinkuhler to the practice squad and released linebacker Josh Mauga from the practice squad. The announcement was made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Steinkuhler (6’3″, 280), originally signed by the Jets on May 1, was with the team through training camp until he was waived Sept. 5. A 2008 All-Big 12 honorable mention coaches’ choice at Nebraska, he recorded 88 tackles, three sacks and 17 tackles for loss in his collegiate career.
Mauga (6’1″, 243) was signed to the Jets practice squad on Dec. 10. He was originally signed by the Jets on Aug. 17 before being waived on Sept. 5. Mauga was a four-year starter at Nevada, totaling 54 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks his senior season.
