NFL Top Ten – Week Four
By Nick Ferraro
1. Indianapolis Colts
The Seahawks were little more than a speed bump for the Colts. The additional good news is that they are 4-0, and their best defensive player hasn’t been on the field yet (Bob Sanders).
2. New York Giants
Steve Smith just caught another pass on the Chief secondary. This Sunday’s game against the Raiders will be ugly. 5-0 seems like a formality for Big Blue.
3. New Orleans Saints
The Saints are getting major contributions from their defense. They can play with anybody if that continues.
4. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles jump a few spots just for getting healthy during their bye week.
5. New York Jets
Sunday was part of the education of rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez. It was a painful part, but the defense was impressive against the Saints, holding them to their lowest output of the year.
6. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens had a chance to win Sunday, but it didn’t happen. They continue to give up more points than we’re accustomed to seeing their defense surrender.
7. Minnesota Vikings
Favre was ready to play Monday night to say the least. If the Vikings get balance on offense, it will be a big season in Minnesota.
8. New England Patriots
The Pats played big in a big spot for them. They stand at 3-1 after the first quarter of the season, and you have to figure they haven’t played their best football yet.
9. Chicago Bears
The Bears are scoring, but they’re too porous on defense to be considered an elite team. The Lions moved the ball well all day on Sunday.
10. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons had the bye week to figure out how to get points on the board against good teams. We’ll see if they used their time well when they travel to play the up-and-coming 49ers on Sunday.
