Saints March All Over NY Jets, 24 – 10
The New York Jets will be happy to march out of New Orleans after a tough loss. The Saints offense had been receiving most of the credit for the Saints fast start. Yet, the Saints defense, led by new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was very impressive today. They play an aggressive scheme and do an excellent job of disguising their blitzes.
The result?
A game Mark Sanchez will never forget. Welcome to the NFL Mr. Sanchez. Pro athletes are often judged more by how they pick themselves up after a knockout. This one was a TKO as Sanchez was 14/27 on the day and only threw for 138 yards. Making matters worse were 3 interceptions, one of which came as the Jets were on the Saints 15 and was returned by Darren Sharper for a Saints touchdown. Sanchez also fumbled in the end zone and it was recovered for another Saints touchdown.
The Jets defense hung in there and did a good job. They didn’t sack Brees but they limited the Saints but in the end 14 points off of turnovers was more than the Jets could overcome.
The good news Jets fans?
- The Jets are 3 and 1 and this was a non-conference game.
- Calvin Pace comes back next week, he can report to the Jets training facility on Monday.
Next up for the New York Jets is a Monday night matchup (10/12) against the Miami Dolphins. Tell us what you think about the game in our forums.
