Jet News NY Jets Training Camp
Jets Week Schedule
The Jets had previously announced that they would hold open mini-camp practices in Florham Park NJ. Randy Lange of NYJets.com wrote this artice which highlights and provides details on all the Jets Week activities.
The centerpiece of the events being planned for the fans from June 2-13 are the five practices over three days of the full-squad minicamp June 9-11.
The practices will all be held at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. Parking and admission will be free. The parking lot will be open a half-hour prior to the opening of Generation Jets Fest for the day, and space will be limited so plan accordingly. We’ll provide more information and times closer to the event.
Tuesday and Wednesday, June 9-10, will be two-a-day sessions, with the practices set to start tentatively at 10:25 a.m. and 3:55 p.m. Thursday, June 11, will be a morning practice only, set to start at 10:25 a.m. Please note that times are subject to change.
But a number of other events are planned before, during and after the minicamp. Here are the highlights:
Tuesday, June 2 — New York Jets Charity Golf Classic
This year’s sixth annual event will be held at Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster, N.J. If you want to drive, chip and putt with your favorite Jets, there are still openings for foursomes. Call 973-549-4800 for more details.
Wednesday, June 3 — Jets Shop Store Grand Opening
Current and alumni players will be on hand at 437 Madison Ave. at 50th Street in Manhattan to open the newest place for all the latest and greatest official Jets gear.
Saturday, June 6 — Generation Jets Kids Clinic, 2-4 p.m.
Your child can learn football skills from the pros at this event, open to Generation Jets Kids Club members only. Space is limited so you should register today if you’re interested ($25 per membership per participant).
Sunday, June 7 — New York Jets Walk to Cure Lupus, 9 a.m.
Once again the Jets are joining the effort to cure lupus and encourage you to come out, too, for the 3.1-mile walk at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. The event will include refreshments, entertainment and special appearances by Jets coaches, players and alumni. Register at walk.lupusresearch.com.
Monday, June 8 — Introducing the Jets Flight Crew, 6 p.m.
Meet the entire 2009 Jets Flight Crew as they make their first public appearance together at Generation Jets Fest at the AHJTC. Get autographs, take pictures and say hello to the new squad of cheerleaders.
Wednesday, June 10 — Minicamp Blood Donation, 9:30 a.m., 2, 3 and 7 p.m.
Before or after watching one of the minicamp practices, donate blood at the day-long blood drive. The busmobile will be located at Generation Jets Fest.
Thursday, June 11 — Football 101/201 Presented by Morristown Memorial Hospital, 6-8 p.m.
In the 101 class, players and coaches will teach the rules of the game, the positions, the offense, the defense and more. By the time you leave, you’ll be ready to call the plays like a pro. In 201, hit the field with current and alumni Jets players. They’ll run you through drills and skills challenges that will have you ready for your next big game. The clinics run simultaneously. Registration is required for either session and there is a $25 fee to participate.
Saturday, June 13 — National Anthem Contest Auditions, 10 a.m.
Calling all rising stars! The Jets are again holding their Star-Spangled Banner contest at Generation Jets Fest at the AHJTC. At this open call, each candidate will sing 30 seconds from a song of his/her choice. Semifinalists will be selected at this time. The ultimate goal: One talented fan will get to perform the Anthem at a 2009 Jets regular-season home game.
