Are You Sure You Want Sanchez?
By Mike Dietrich
I was listening to sports talk radio and they were talking about quarterbacks that came out of college early. I decided to research how many starting quarterbacks had less than four years of college. This analysis has nothing to do with the ability of a player.
If you’re a gambler, you analyze the trends, the lines, etc. You place bets on teams based quite a bit on statistics.
GET THIS…..
Only 1 NFL team has a starting QB that has less than 4 years in college. That team and player…the Oakland Raiders – JaMarcus Russell. Vince Young is a back up for Tennessee.
I accumulated the information by using NFL.com and clicking on the rosters of teams (for about 5 players) and College Football Reference at http://cfreference.net/cfr/cfr.s
True Junior QB’s, coming out early, have bust written all over them. And, the school is out on Russell. There are a few that have had success…Jeff George, Michael Vick, Drew Bledsoe…can you name others?
Can you name true junior QB’s who came out and failed? Do many junior QB’s come out?
Here is a list of the current crop of starting QB’s in the NFL along with the years in college and college attended. Bottom line, if you are a betting man, you better get some good odds on Stafford and Sanchez:
