Jets End Titans Perfect Season
The Jets traveled to Tennessee, looked in the eyes of undefeated Titans and did not blink. The end result was a 34 to 13 victory for New York. The Jets played a solid game all around and were in control from start to finish. From the players to the coaches they did everything right today. They set the tone early with a defensive stop and a touchdown on their first possession and never let up from there.
The Jets defense looked much improved in coverage. Several drops by Titans receivers didn’t help the Titans cause either. Kerry Collins threw for 243 yards but most of that was in the 2nd half when the Jets were ahead comfortably. The run defense continues to impress as they held the Titans to 45 yards on the ground.
The offense, led by Brett Favre, showcased a very balanced attack. Dustin Keller continues to provide defenses with matchup problems. The biggest story was several Titans defensive penalties as they were having problems covering the Jets receivers. On the ground the Jets kept plugging away against a tough Titans defense and they ran 39 times for 192 yards. The biggest run came in the 4th quarter when Leon Washington broke loose for a 61 yard touchdown.
The Jets put the league on notice with this win. They continue to gel, they can play physical on both sides of the ball and they get more confident each week. Someday we will know what this team can truly accomplish this season. That is a story for tomorrow. The story for today is one that Jet Nation has waited a long time to hear. This team is for real and is playing as well as anyone in the league right now.
