Miami-17 NY Jets-20
Â
Quarterback: B
Pennington (17-29, 175 yards, 2 TDs)
A rough first half for Pennington but in the second half he turned it on. He hit his favorite target Laveranues Coles for two second half scores. Mistake free football once again from Chad after the debacle last weekend.
Running Back: B
Washington (11 carries, 58 yards)
Barlow (13 carries, 45 yards)
Barlow finally woke up and Washington continues to impress. Cedric Houston should be coming back in the next week or two and if Barlow plays like he did today the Jets have a pretty good trio back there. Hey, maybe even #28 will be on the field before the season is over.
Â
Wide Receiver: C
Coles (5 receptions, 106 yards, 2 TDs)
Coles did a great job but where was everybody else?
Â
Tight End: C
Baker (4 receptions, 39 yards)
Chris Baker is alive! They finally got him into the passing game this week, thank god.
Â
Offensive Line: B+ They were pretty good against the run and pretty good against the pass…this line is finally starting to gel.
Â
Defensive Line: F
Once again could not stop the run (130 yards on 28 carries) and put no pressure whatsoever on Joey Harrington. Dewayne Robertson needs to go.
Â
Linebackers: B- Hobson made a few nice plays, Vilma had a key stop on 3rd & Goal and Eric Barton was once again in on a lot of stops on Ronnie Brown.
Â
Secondary: C- Justin Miller is not a starting Cornerback in the NFL. Rhodes & Dyson played well but Miller brings this unit down big time. Really, the ENTIRE unit brings this grade down with their pitiful performance in the 4th quarter.
Â
Special Teams: A- Nugent was 2-2, Miller had a few good returns, Brad Smith made two nice tackles & Ben Graham punted the ball well aside from one punt. Good day for the unit.
Â
Coaching: C+ The offensive game plan wasn’t all that great early on but it improved as the game went on. There is not much you can do when the secondary couldn’t cover a snail in the 4th quarter. Either way, Mangini & Co. need to get that defense to play four quarters, not three.
