Jets Sign FB Moa, King Placed On NFLE Exempt/Injured List

The New York Jets announced Friday the signing of free agent fullback Ben Moa. The Club also announced that offensive lineman Michael King has been placed on the NFL Europe Exempt/Injured list. Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum made the announcements.

Moa, 6-2, 256 pounds, spent the 2006 spring season in NFL Europe with the Berlin Thunder, serving primarily as a fullback and a tight end. Moa spent the 2005 season on the Miami Dolphins’ injured reserve list. He originally joined the Dolphins as a rookie free agent on April 29, 2004 and was released on September 5, 2004 before re-signing with the Dolphins on January 19, 2005 and being allocated to the Berlin Thunder. In his first season with Berlin (2005), Moa had 10 receptions for 104 yards and one special teams tackle. This past spring he contributed the third-most receptions on the team (18) for 160 yards and scored one touchdown. Moa is a product of the University of Utah (2003), and is a cousin of Jets’ defensive line Sione Pouha.

King, 6-3, 298 pounds, signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2005 after playing his college football at Northwestern (La.) State. King spent the 2005 season on the Jets’ practice squad and was allocated by the Jets to NFL Europe, where he went onto start all 11 games, including the World Bowl, for the Amsterdam Admirals.
