The New York Jets announced Friday that they have signed rookie free agent fullback Micheal Warren. The announcement was made by Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Warren, a 6-1, 249-pound native of Linden, N.C. began his collegiate career at North Carolina State University before transferring to NCAA Division I-AA Elon College in Elon, N.C. In his two seasons as a member of the Phoenix’s squad, Warren manned a linebacker spot and will attempt the conversion to fullback on the professional level.
The product of Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, N.C. red-shirted as a freshman at NCSU in 2000 before playing sparingly for the Wolfpack in 2001 as a linebacker. He then transferred to Elon and earned All-Big South Conference first-team honors after playing in all 11 games in 2002, collecting 82 tackles, a team-high 14 tackles for -43 yards, two passes defensed and a sack.
