The New York Jets announced late Monday evening that they have hired Brian Schottenheimer to become the team’s new offensive coordinator.
The 32-year old Schottenheimer is a seven-year NFL coaching veteran and has spent the past four seasons as the Chargers’ quarterback coach.
Brian Schottenheimer, who is the son of San Diego head coach Marty Schottenheimer, has received praise for his work with Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees.
“He’s as hard a worker as I’ve ever been around,â€? Chargers’ offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said of the younger Schottenheimer on Chargers.com. “I think players in this league really respond to that. I think if you look at the development of those guys, you’ll see what he brings to the table. Just look at how players play. That will tell you exactly about the guy that is coaching them. I think the play of our quarterbacks speaks volumes to the job that Brian has done.”
