NEW YORK JETS SIGN FREE AGENT CBs BRANDON HAW & ROOSEVELT WILLIAMS
New York City – The New York Jets announced today the signings of cornerbacks Brandon Haw and Roosevelt Williams. The announcements were made by Jets Executive Vice President and General Manager Terry Bradway.
Haw, a 6-0, 200-pound product of Rutgers, was waived by the Miami Dolphins on July 24, 2005 after he signed with them on January 19 as a free agent. Haw signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2004 and was released by the Eagles on Sept. 5, 2004 and signed to the San Diego Chargers? practice squad on Sept. 7, 2004 before being waived from their practice squad on Nov. 15. He signed with the Cleveland Browns practice squad on Nov. 16, where he spent the remainder of the season before signing with the Dolphins. Haw hails from Washington, DC and attended Rutgers University where he was a four-year starter at Rutgers who finished his career with 137 tackles, eight-and-a-half sacks, six interceptions and 29 pass breakups.
Williams, 6-1, 210-pounds, was signed by the Washington Redskins on January 25, 2005 and was released by the team on May 24. Williams, originally selected in the third-round of the 2002 Draft by the Chicago Bears, was waived by the Bears on August 31, 2003 and then was claimed on waivers by the Denver Broncos the following day. He was waived by the Broncos on Sept. 16 and signed by the Cleveland Brown on Sept. 25, 2003. Williams has played in 25 games throughout his career, made 20 tackles, had four passes defensed, recovered two fumbles and added four special teams stops. Williams is a native of Jacksonville, FL and attended Tuskegee.
Haw will wear number #39 and Williams will wear #37.
