Marcus Vick got his family’s name back on the police blotter early this morning when he was arrested in Norfolk.
A police officer on a bicycle rode up to a car with a couple arguing early this morning. When he asked for identification, Vick sped away. He was stopped a few minutes later by another officer, failed a sobriety test and was charged with DUI, eluding police, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. He was released this morning on a $1,000 bond.
It’s not the younger Vick’s first brush with the law. He was suspended for the 2004 season at Virginia Tech for two separate criminal offenses and was arrested nine times for traffic violations during his time at the school. He was also arrested in 2006 for pointing a gun at people in a McDonald’s parking lot and, later the same year, was accused of molesting a minor. His brief NFL career consisted of one game with the Dolphins in 2006.

Although Michael Vick's lawyer says he plans to show remorse and make amends after he pleads guilty to federal conspiracy charges Monday, his mother, Brenda Vick Boddie, doesn't seem to think her son has anything to be remorseful for:

"I gotta be strong for him," Brenda Vick sobbed, standing outside the handsome brick mansion her son bought for her in Suffolk, Va. "It is tough on everybody. They are trying to put my baby in jail, and for what?"

"Everybody makes mistakes," she continued, only hours after her son filed his guilty plea Friday. "Everybody deserves a second chance. He has given his life over to God. He is not a criminal . . . He's a good person. He has a big heart, and it just hurts."

It's not a surprise that a mother whose son is facing prison would react that way, but the way she tries to deny the crimes her son committed may actually hurt Vick. His only chance of ever getting back into the NFL is to show sincere remorse, and if the people around Vick continue to say things like "for what?" and "he is not a criminal," it will be hard for anyone to believe that Vick is sorry for what he's done.

He sped away from a cop on a bicycle? Knowing it was a Vick, they should have called the K-9 unit.

I just don't see the Vick family saga having a happy ending.

I honestly hope that know one here is shocked by this. All his crap started when he was at VT. Couldn't even make it through there without getting thrown out. What a waste bucket.
