Brian Schottenheimer to interview with Buffalo
According to the NY Daily News, the Buffalo Bills have requested (and received) permission to interview New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for their open head-coach position.
Bills interested in Brian
By Rich CiminiThe Bills have formally requested permission to speak with Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for their head-coaching vacancy and the Jets have granted permission, accoridng to a league source.
By rule, the Bills are allowed to meet with Schottenheimer this week at a location and time convenient to him and the Jets, who are preparing for a divisional playoff game in San Diego.
If the Jets win, the Bills can’t speak to Schottenheimer again until the bye week before the Super Bowl — if the Jets make it that far.
Many Jets fans have never fully supported Baby Schott. The work he has done the past two years has been impressive. Dealing with the Favre situation last year was challenging. Grooming a rookie QB this year is an even bigger challenge. At times this season the results were not there for Mark Sanchez and Schott took some heat for it.
The bottom line is that this offense is peaking at the right time. Mark Sanchez regressed in the middle of the season but has been solid the past few weeks. His work against the Bengals, 12/15 passing, was not what you would expect from a rookie. Brian Schottenheimer called an excellent game and had the Bengals defense off-balance.
We know it is only a matter of time until Baby Schott becomes a head-coach but another season of continuity would be nice for the Jets. Tell us what you think in the New York Jets message board.
