Jets Release Chad Pennington
The Jets announced at 4pm today that they have released QB Chad Pennington. Chad is now free to negotiate with any team and early rumors have the Miami Dolphins as a possible destination.
Chad has received a lot of criticism over the past few years. In his 3rd year, and first as starter, he had a 104.2 passer rating. Various injuries kept Chad off the field for nine games in 2003 and 2004. A rotator cuff injury took Chad off the field for most of the 2005 season.
In 2004, Chad Pennington played through pain in the postseason. He took the field with a serious shoulder injury and led to Jets to a win over the Chargers and a heartbreaking loss in Pittsburgh. Chad put the team first and for that he should be commended.
It didn’t work out as Jets fans or Chad had hoped. It definitely wasn’t for a lack of effort. Nobody worked harder than Chad.
JetNation wishes him well and thanks him for being the ultimate professional. He carried himself with nothing but class during his tenure here.
