Harris, a veteran of 11 seasons was thought to be safe for the 2017 season as the Jets would be looking for veteran leaders to lead them through what’s sure to be a difficult campaign with development of young players being more important than on-field results.
Cutting Harris will save the Jets $6.5 million in cap room.
