Jets Deal for Running Back Zac Stacy

By Glenn Naughton

The Jets traded one of their seventh round selections (no. 224) to acquire running back Zac Stacy from the Rams as St. Louis granted a request made by Stacy’s representatives following their selection of Georgia running back Todd Gurley.

Having re-signed running back Bilal Powell and adding free agent Stevan Ridley to go along with starter Chris Ivory, the Jets are now carrying four running backs.

Chosen in the fifth round of the of the 2013 draft, Stacy started twelve games as a rookie, carrying the ball 250 times for 973 yards (3.9 YPC) and 7 touchdowns.  Limited to five starts in 2014 due to a knee injury, Stacy started just 5 games and logged 76 carries for  293 yards and  1 score.

With 44 receptions in two seasons, Stacy joins Powell as the only threats out of the backfield in the passing game.
